Discussion over a cricketer's future are always the talking point for the Indian media. People in India are so passionate that they want to know everything on what the cricketer is doing but if the cricketer is Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the excitement level is even more.
After India's exit from the World Cup in the semifinal match a lot of data about MS Dhoni was flowing in the air.Some said that he would announce retirement soon, but many said that he would like to play till the 2020 T20 World Cup.But none of them had a surety.
We all know MS and his decision and how every time he gets everyone surprised and awestruck on his decision On Dhoni's retirement Virat said that he hadn't received any information in that context then.After that it was seen that Dhoni had taken a break of 2 months from cricket and would serve Indian army in that period .
Reaction of People-People of the country had a mixed opinion .For some it was time for Ms to move away and give Rishabh Pant a chance and many felt that Dhoni still had a lot of cricket left in him and could play till T20 world cup. Lata Mangeshkar and many renowned personalities were also of the same opinion.
Road Ahead- Dhoni not playing in West indies tour was already decided as Ms took leave from Cricket.But Dhoni not being selected for home series vs South Africa is surely to raise eyeballs.Chief selector MSK Prasad said that Dhoni had made himself unavailable for this series and is in US currently but he also gave a hint saying that the selectors are trying to get a pool of three wicket keepers ready namely Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan and Ms is no longer India's first choice wicket keeper, you could see where they are heading towards with that right.
What is going to be the future of Ms Dhoni in Indian team?
In a recently conducted interview Dada said that if Ms can contribute to the team as Ms Dhoni then he should play but if not then he should make way for others.
In my opinion I totally agree with Dada that if Ms can contribute to the team as much as a Ms dhoni would contributed when he was young, he should be picked in the team. Moreover because the next batch of Indian wicket keepers are hugely inexperienced and from the little chances Rishabh got his unstable mindset and not being able to capitalize on the opportunity is a major reason to worry for the team selectors and mangement. With the T20 world cup approaching, if Rishabh doesn't realize his role and responsibility that is expected from him and fail to deliver it, Ms should be considered until T20 WorldCup 2020 as India still haven't found the true replacement of Ms Dhoni.
And to fill his shoe is going to be a very difficult task for any upcoming wicket keeper.
